MEET THE HSG TEAM!

Christine-HerndonChristine Herndon, President/COO
Ms. Herndon started HSG in April 2008. Ms. Herndon has over ten years of experience in environmental regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness and response, business continuity planning, and technical research and writing. Her technical background includes all facets of risk mitigation and management. She has successfully completed numerous environmental assessments and audits; developed and implemented environmental plans and procedures; prepared and implemented emergency response/business continuity plans and programs; reviewed, recommended, and worked with personnel to improve process efficiencies; and authored or co-authored technical reports, standards, and guidelines. Ms. Herndon is a member of the National American Water Works Association (AWWA), California-Nevada AWWA MI AWWA, and IL AWWA. Ms. Herndon is secretary for the National AWWA, Emergency Preparedness & Security Committee, as well as the CA-NV Emergency Security Committee. She is also a member of the AWWA Standards Committee and was a member and contributing author to the update of the G-440, Standard for Emergency Preparedness Practices.

Ms. Herndon has a Master’s of Science, Environmental Science (concentrations in Water Resource Management and Civil/Environmental Engineering), University of Nevada Las Vegas, 2004 and a Bachelors of Science, double major in Environmental Management and Geography (Biology minor), Elmhurst College, Illinois, 2002.

Gary-SturdivanGary Sturdivan, Principal Consultant
Mr. Sturdivan was employed in the water sector for 24 years, in Southern California in various positions; most recently as Director of Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Emergency Management, Grants, before coming to HSG. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and Business Administration, from the University of Phoenix, Southern California. Mr. Sturdivan is a member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) and California/Nevada (CA-NV) section of AWWA. Mr. Sturdivan is past Chair of the CA-NV-AWWA, Emergency Security Committee. Mr. Sturdivan is Chair of the National AWWA Emergency Preparedness & Security Committee, is a member of the AWWA Standards Committee, and Chair of the AWWA M-19 re-write Committee.

Mr. Sturdivan is past Chair of Region IV, CalWARN and past Vice-Chair of the CalWARN State Steering Committee. Mr. Sturdivan founded and is past Chair of the Emergency Response Network of the Inland Empire (ERNIE). Mr. Sturdivan served on the USGS/Caltech Pasadena, Golden Guardian 2008, Water/Wastewater planning team, the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, Golden Guardian Planning Committee and the San Bernardino County Fire Office of Emergency Services, Lifeline Recovery Committee for Golden Guardian 2008. Mr. Sturdivan is a member of Rotary International, San Bernardino North.

Carrie-LeeCarrie Lee, Senior Program Manager
Ms. Lee is a Senior Program Manager with 29 years experience working for major water utilities. She has broad knowledge of water efficiency programs and techniques, as well as general water utility operations. She administered single-family water efficiency programs for the Southern Nevada Water Authority (SNWA) with customers across five jurisdictions in Southern Nevada and supervised the water waste enforcement programs and customer service for the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD). Currently, Ms. Lee is a Senior Program Manager involved in water conservation and customer service. She is an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) WaterSense partner and a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA).

Toni-SekundaToni Sekunda, Technical Specialist
Ms. Sekunda has over ten years experience in progressively responsible Technical Specialist roles in various organizations, including her time as an Executive Assistant to the Vice-President of Dun and Bradstreet. Ms. Sekunda has been with HSG for over three years and is a very detail oriented Technical Editor. Ms. Sekunda is the Administrative Record Program Specialist for the largest Administrative Record within the Department of the Interior, HSG’s contract. Ms. Sekunda is responsible for all Quality Assurance/Quality Control for HSG and we are proud to have her expertise.

Kara Ali, Environmental Engineer
Ms. Ali has been with HSG for two years, as an Environmental Engineer, and has more than ten years experience providing environmental services, including conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments; various types of soil, surface water, and groundwater investigations; human health risk assessments; environmental liability assessments and cost estimating for environmental remediation projects; as well as providing data analysis, reporting, and project management. She is also proficient in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), spatial and statistical analysis of environmental data, and database management. Ms. Ali is a successful project manager, scoping and meeting regulatory compliance requirements. Current and former clients include financial institutions, lenders, private sector clients, municipalities, and government agencies. 

Ms. Ali has a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, 2001; Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (No. 1383459), 2011; 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Training 2001; 8-Hour HAZWOPER Refresher Training, 2011; Remedial Action Cost Engineering and Requirements (RACER) 1999; Environmental Cost Estimating and Liability Assessment, 2006; Cost 101, Cost Engineering and Documentation, 2006 and is an Engineer-In-Training, 2010.

Amber Taschereau, Environmental Scientist
Ms. Taschereau is HSG’s newest employee and comes to us in her final year at Oakland University (Michigan) majoring in Political Science. Amber is an extremely detail oriented employee that supports HSG on various projects to include Administrative Record support for the Department of the Interior (DOI), environmental compliance assessments and report writing, and technical support for guidebooks to include a “how to” on complying with environmental regulations and developing and implementing an effective water conservation program. 

Tyler-BlakeNatalia (Tyler) Blake, Executive Assistant
Ms. Blake is the lifeline of HSG. Tyler brings over 25 years of executive support experience to HSG. In addition to her Executive Assistant (EA) role, Tyler supports HSG with all aspects of marketing to include maintaining client databases, preparing the quarterly newsletter, and organizing special events.
